15mm Zvezda M1A1

I know this M1 hasn't garnered alot of favorable reviews on the good ole' internet lately but I have to say that for the price I really like it.  Its simplicity of putting together, painting, and just the right amount of detail make me happy I bought 3 of them.  This will round out my 15mm US Force for modern gaming.  (also The War Store is letting you pre order them for 4.99 a pop! - also I apologize for the poor picture quality - I am still getting used to the lighting in my basement...)
Trees for scale.  I like the detail on the top of the turret.

dry-brushed a little over-zealously on the road wheels

On the prowl for targets...I nailed the colors for the camo I think.

Hidden amongst the treeline (still haven't picked up my WWII BKC Battle from the other day)

Doesn't this part of the terrain board look like ruts in the mud?  Fooled you!  It's actually plywood...

Tomorrow I will post pics of my OPFOR units - so far I've got 3 T-80s, 3 BMP-2s, and 2 Zvezda T-72s which I can also pretend are T-90s...(more to follow on my upcoming Cold War Commander Russia Vrs Ukraine game in the near future!  The reunification begins!)
Definitely happy with how it turned out.

  1. Compared to the T72 it does look a little simplistic but it does look the part.

    Good job on it Steven.

    1. Thanks, Paul. It is very bare-bones. I guess what I'm most disappointed with is the lack of a bustle-rack but for the price I can't complain.

  2. Yeah, no machine guns or stowage? You did a great job with it, but it does look very bare.

    1. Ski,
Blame me for the lack of stowage. I'll have to rustle up some rucksacks, tarps, and boxes to throw in the back just like a real American vehicle in the field. As far as the MGs or other accoutrements, it's pretty sparse.

  3. My impression seems much as others: a rather basic kit. Not that I would object, either, having the attitude if it looks the part it can play the part. Besides, extra stowage can always be added from spare bits, I dare say.

    1. Quite right, Archduke. Once I get some stowage on there it will look like a proper American vehicle.
