Sherman Tank Platoon Finished!

The World War II MTOE (modified table of organization and equipment) project is in full swing!  The first of those piles of plastic and pewter on my desk are finished.  These minis are a combination of Command Decision 15mm and Point of Contact plastic models.

I painted all with an undercoat of black then Olive Drab, dry brushed with a light tan.  The tracks are black and metallic dry brushed and there are some decals on each tank.  The platoon leader's track has decals on the turret as well as the hull to differentiate
you can see the "stilts" I added to them to make them a little bigger.

Advance!  Attack!  Assault!

The pile is whittled away, slowly.

  1. There is something endearing about the Sherman tank, don't you think? The way it soldiered on against enormous odds. There is also that about having lots of them that instils a certain confidence, however unjustified. Nice looking tank battalion (if you're using Command decision...

  2. Thanks AP. I agree and I love the Sherman's story. It was a good solid tank and it served its crews well, even if it didn't properly stand up to Tigers and Panthers. It was sure a good match for the Panzer III and IV variants I think.

This is most certainly a Battalion in GHQ, BKC, FFT3, and Command Decision, or a couple platoons for Flames of War! It is whatever I'll need it to be. How do you like Command Decision?

    1. Probably my favorite WW2 rule set, though I've played more Panzer Marsch over the last 10 years or so. I guess I just like big formations - fighting with brigades and divisions. I have to admit, though, I don't know the other sets you mention. FoW is played in 15mm in this part of the world, and so much have I invested in 20mm/1:76/1:72 gear, I wasn't prepared to go down that track now. The other rule set that gets played here is Spearhead, but no one plays WW2 in this scale.
