BT-7 Pair!

Well I finally got around to finishing these lovely Zvezda 1/100 BT-7s I had laying around.  These are, of course, for Battlegroup Barbarossa and will be the centerpiece of my Soviet counter-attack forces.
The decals are from Plastic Soldier Company.  They are painted in Krylon "light olive," dry-brushed with "sandstone," weathered with the Plastic Soldier Company's "Light Brown Weathering Spray," dry brushed again! then sealed.  Sadly I wish I could say they looked nicer for all the work I put into them but they are for the wargaming table and not the competition table!

2 Soviet troopers for scale

here they are in their natural element!

Comrade Commissar has arrived for inspection of the glorious people's tank troops

Next up I have a batch of German Panzer III M's with the skirts for my Battlegroup: Kursk forces, as well as a T-34/76 platoon also for BGK.  I need to do one or two more things for the BGK units to be completed, then I can post pictures.

  1. Nice tanks. Good for the Spanish Civil War as well.

    1. Thanks, John. Yes that's right - I must start playing SCW. Where else could a T-26 and a BT-7 be the dominant weapons on the table?!?! Maybe fun for Bolt Action?!?!

    2. I've played SCW with Desposable Heroes and with Frank Chadwick's WWII rules (the name of which escapes me now.) Where else can you find paramilitary police on the same side as Anarchists and then they fight. Someone once said that you know your government is in trouble when the Communist Party is the most conservative element!

    3. John,
Command Decision perhaps? That is a game I've been wanting to play for a long time.
Yes SCW definitely a cornucopia of units, nationalities, and creeds!

  2. I did some just the same for battlegroup Barbarossa too. Great little models but they got shot to bits in my first game with them.

    1. Chris,
I'm expecting as much. It wouldn't be me if my tabletop troops weren't getting cut to ribbons!

  3. I love the comment "and will be the centerpiece of my Soviet counter-attack forces".

Very optimistic thinking Steven. Love then!

    1. Thanks Paul!
I'm looking forward to trying to dislodge some Grenadiers from a small collective farm and see how it goes.

  4. Big fan of the early war Russian tanks like these excellent BT7's. Love the T26 series too. You just have to keep plenty of KO and burn markers to hand, unfortunately.

    1. You bet, SRD. The early Russian tanks have that "clank clank sputter sputter" look to them. Like I expect you can hear them coming from miles away. For Battlegroup I think I'll only need 2 or 3. Going up against those crack crews in Panzer IIIs I think you're right they won't be around long...
