Game Models 15mm Eastern Front Reinforcements!

I received my second batch of 15mm reinforcements from Craig at Game Models and wanted to post them as soon as I could.  The batch was a trio of Ferdinand (Elefants) and SU-122s that I certainly did not want to pay Battlefront prices for!  These were actually purchased for the Hill 235 Ponyri Station scenario.  Since the actual battle for Ponyri has not yet occurred, I'm still safe and these will all be put to very good use.  That being said, the wife was not happy when these arrived...

I will be painting these big fellas soon as they will be staples of my eastern front forces.  I love the detail of Game Models' stuff and for 5 bucks a model, you can't beat them.

Ferdinand!

Mighty SU-122s!

For scale next to a PSC T-34.

Tune in tomorrow for a glimpse of my Cigar Box Heroes mat and some 1/72 plastic Naps re-based for "old school" wargaming!!

  1. Whenever you buy more stuff you can't possibly "need" and get someone upset, just point out that you could be blowing all the cash at topless bars, drug use or street racing. At least this way you're in the basement, not out getting arrested. :)

    1. Great points Chuck. There are alot of worse ways to spend my money and they're definitely not as safe or productive as wargaming!!!!

  2. Not happy about Ferdinand's and SU-122's?

Well she could have a point about the Ferd's given their less than stellar career stats, but I maybe she has it wrong about the 122's. Nice close support tracks.

    Good buy's.

    1. Thank Paul :)

I think she was more mad about me spending $$$ and less about the combat performance of the vehicles I bought!

  3. To be fair, our wives probably have a right to moan every now and again but the points of being home and not blowing money at the track or in flesh pots are quite valid!

The 122s look nice but the Ferds...I dunno. Maybe its the dunkelgelb colour he uses because it looks like they are sufficiently detailed. Perhaps I need to see one fully painted up and detailed. Who am I kidding though, I'm going to buy some for $5 a throw anyway!

I like the little resin haystacks - they are neat!

    1. Paul,
My wife cheerfully overlooks the vast majority of my purchases, and she herself has actually said (without my coaxing!) that she would prefer I spend the money on constructive things like wargaming. I think she was more upset about the mat than the small box from Craig.

I think with the game models stuff, there is a little give and take. If you want to see some of them painted up, check out the gallery on his website and find the ones where the "WWPD" guys painted some of them. (their WWPD stamp is in the lower corner).

They look terrific! I need to paint mine up. I am thinking I'll start basecoating them soon. I have a ton of desert vehicles that I need to get out and start readying for action again!

  4. Meh, the Crazy Lady I Live With complains 'bout everything. I just have to decide what's worth the blood loss and what isn't.
And really- you've got like 30 bucks worth of models here that would've cost easily triple that if you didn't do some smart shopping. She should be giving you points for smart shopping, actually...
Anyway, that would be my defense. I know it wouldn't work all that well, but waddayagonnado?

Gawd Battlefront tanks are so overpriced for those lousy chunks of resin and pre-bent gun barrels. Blah. I'll take PSC or Game Models any day.

    1. SinSynn,
Yeah I hear that. BF prices are outrageous compared to PSC. Plus I'm happy with the quality of the Game Models stuff anyways. It's good enough for me, a guy who just wants to throw some dice around.

Wife's fine. She got over it :) I showed her a price comparison with the other stuff out there, not to mention the beautifully already-painted stuff on ebay from BF. She's been quiet about it of late. Anyways I just need to lay low for a month or two with the purchases.

Personally I think it was so soon after Christmas....

  5. I have a lot of time for Gaming Models, and unlike PSC, you don't risk amputating your fingers cutting parts from sprues or gluing your fingers together assembling the bits. Mind you, PSC kits are nice, cheap as chips compared to BF, so I'm not complaining too much.
