Orc Units for SPEAR TO THE STRIFE and Other Progress

Burned the "midnight oil" last night and made some major progress on a few projects.  First, my "annual" Halloween fantasy game may actually take place this year if this pace of progress keeps up!
I finished painting the first of 3 Orc units for Alex's outstanding "Spear to the Strife" rules from his blog of the same name.
Drazen - the boss
Troops are Kallistra and Games Workshop 10mm metals for either "Hordes and Heroes" or "Warmaster."  I've played both and I really prefer Alex's "Spear to the Strife" rules best.

Technically, these are "Dark Ages" rules for smallish warbands.  That said, with my 10mm Fantasy troops, originally purchased eons ago when I was single, I'll use them as low-fantasy, mass battle game with huge armies of invading Orcs, fighting against the armies of men who are desperate to stop them.

The whole thing should have a big Warhammer feel to it if I've done my job properly...  WIth the One Hour Wargames scenarios, we should be able to have a 3 or 4 game campaign on a long afternoon or evening.  That's the plan, anyways.

3 Orc "Regiments" or Warbands or whatever you want to call them.  Orc Swords and Clubs, a unit of Orc Spears, and Orc "Heavy" Cavalry riding on huge boars.  I still need to finish 3 to 5 more Orc units and texture the bases but you get the idea.
Drazen's "flag" - the Orcs discover the color red and go into a frenzy, invading all nations before them.

Orc swords, backed by disciplined Orc spear units surge forward!
Change the channel now back over to "moderns" for my FATE OF A NATION 6mm project.  Here is a full infantry company with 19 AK47 stands, along with command and the FO.  They will get the desert base treatment.

Painting the infantry was tough getting the colors just right.  They are basecoated black, dry brushed with VJ "dark sand" and then washed with "nuln oil" before putting a light coat of apple barrel "sand stone" on them, and "maple sugar tan" on the helmets.  I think they have a suitably "Egyptian" look to them!

Seriously, looking forward to a mini-campaign on the theme of "battle for skull pass" or some classic old-hammer theme!
