Setting Up The Battle for Oak Ridge: Gettysburg with TWO FLAGS ONE NATION ACW

I began setting up the table for an American Civil War clash featuring Rodes' Divisional attack against the I (US) Corps positions at Gettysburg on Day 1 of the battle.  I ended up using Scott Mingus' outstanding "Enduring Valor" scenario book to set up the clash.  You can read yesterday's post about converting the scenario and how remarkably easy it was between rules here.

Looking West at O'Neal's brigade in the foreground.  The Forney farmhouse is clearly visible as is the Mummasburg Road.

I have hex mats but they're in the attic and I'm lazy so I ended up using squares.  Not ideal but they'll do.  This changed the configuration of the table a little since it was frankly easier to set up 6" squares than 4" squares, which would have been too fiddly with all of the terrain on the table.  The grey markers mark the center of a 1' square, dividing the square up into 4 smaller 6" squares.  It's fiddly with all of the terrain, but again, it was the easiest way to go about it this time.

Anyways, you can see the prominent features of the battlefield with this setup.  Oak Hill is on the right and the wooded area, the continuation of the Wills-McPherson Woods is on the left.

A Closer look at the Forney House from Oak Hill.  You're staring directly at the extended right of the I (US) Corps.  We're right above Iverson's Brigade now.

West of the Forney House is Daniel's Brigade - Note the Union Regiments in position on the ridge to their front - note the markers for the squares don't look too obtrusive.  At least I dont think they do

The whole battlefield with all of the Confederates arrayed for battle.

This is probably a good time to mention that I made a new RANDOM EVENTS TABLE for this battle per Jonathan's advice yesterday.  The events will hopefully keep the Confederate troops from "steamrolling" the Yankees but there is the chance that they will be able to coordinate their attacks if their rolls are lucky.

The new Random Events for the Oak Ridge Battle are as follows:

2: Advance Turn Marker +1 Turn
3: Random Leader shot by SharpShooter 1-3 Rebel 4-6 Yankee
4: Confused Command - 1 Unit of Iverson's Brgiade is Out of Command
5: Piecemeal Advance - Daniel's BDE 4+ to move each Regiment
6: Piecemeal Advance - O'Neal's BDE 4+ to move each Regiment
7: Piecemeal Advance - Daniel's & O'Neal's BDE 4+ to move each Regiment
8: Piecemeal Advance - Daniel's & O'Neal's BDE 4+ to move each Regiment
9: Inspiring Leadership - Remove 1 Heavy Casualty Marker 1-3 Rebel 4-6 Yankee
10: Colonel Iverson is Missing....
11: Union Confused Command (1 Unit is Out of Command)
12: Union out of Ammo 1 Turn

Union Units of Baxter's Brigade await the onslaught
