FIRESTORM: PONYRI STATION Campaign First Moves!

The Ponyri Station campaign has begun with the German commander and Soviet commander turning in their moves to me today!

Opening Moves of the Ponyri "Firestorm" Campaign

The Germans have used Ochki as a major jumping off point for their assaults, attacking into the Kastenwald, Hill 242.2, and Buzuluk all from the Ochki sector.  If the Germans are successful in taking Buzuluk, they will cut off 2 Soviet sectors from their supply sources further south!

The Soviets have decided on a bold move, a spoiling attack into Maslovo, which, if they're successful, will seize a German rear area supply source!  If the Soviets take Maslovo, they'll have a German supply source in their pocket!

Remember, for the first 3 turns, the Germans will be allowed to make up to 3 attacks while the Soviets will only be able to make one.  Following turn 3, both the Soviets and Germans will be able to make 2 attacks each turn.

On Sunday, we'll have both commanders and more wargamers over to game out ONE of these 4 battles on the tabletop!  The other 3 we will dice for to see how the first day of the campaign went.  I'm hoping that for subsequent campaign days we can have more battles being fought in other guys' houses and they can report on their progress.  The whole point of this campaign is to generate tabletop battles, even if I'm not one of the ones fighting them!

Sunday's game will be a Flames of War 65 point game, along with Firestorm troops, should the players decide to use them.  So tune in Sunday wargaming fans as we cross the Line of Departure with the Germans on their way to taking Ponyri!  It's important to note that not all games will be FOW (but they could be!) some will be Battlegroup and some may be Bolt Action or even Rapid Fire.  Stay tuned!
